Frequently Asked Questions
Where are my recordings saved?
By default, recordings are saved to your Movies folder at ~/Movies/SimaRecord Pro/. You can change the output directory in Settings. Each recording creates a video file along with a metadata JSON file used by the Auto-Polish pipeline.
Which macOS versions are supported?
SimaRecord Pro requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It uses ScreenCaptureKit and other modern frameworks that are not available on earlier versions. Both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs are supported.
How do I switch scenes during recording?
Use keyboard hotkeys to switch between the 7 available scene layouts while recording. The default shortcuts are Cmd+1 through Cmd+7. Scene switches are non-destructive — the webcam and screen are captured as separate streams, so you can also change layouts in the post-production editor.
Can I use SimaRecord Pro with external displays?
Yes. When starting a recording, you can choose which display to capture. SimaRecord Pro supports any display connected to your Mac, including ultrawide monitors and Retina displays. Each display is listed by name in the capture source picker.
