Privacy Policy
Overview
SimaRecord Pro is a macOS screen recording application. Your privacy is simple: your recordings stay on your Mac. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your data.
Data That Stays on Your Device
The following data is created and stored only on your Mac, in locations you choose:
- Screen recordings — video files saved to your chosen output directory
- Webcam recordings — temporary files used during post-processing, then deleted
- Recording metadata — cursor positions, click events, keystroke timestamps (saved as JSON alongside your video for the Auto-Polish feature)
- App preferences — your settings (branding, scene layouts, export presets) stored in local app storage
None of this data ever leaves your device unless you manually share or upload your recordings.
Camera & Microphone
SimaRecord Pro requests camera and microphone access solely to:
- Record your webcam for picture-in-picture overlay
- Record audio narration with your screen capture
Camera and microphone streams are written directly to local files on your Mac. They are never transmitted to any server.
Screen Recording
SimaRecord Pro uses macOS ScreenCaptureKit to capture your screen. Screen content is written directly to local video files. It is never transmitted, analyzed remotely, or shared.
Keyboard & Mouse Monitoring
During an active recording session, SimaRecord Pro monitors keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicks to enable:
- Scene switching hotkeys
- Callout marker placement
- Keystroke overlay rendering
- Auto-zoom on click positions
This monitoring is only active while you are recording and the data is stored locally in the recording metadata file. No keystrokes or mouse activity are recorded outside of active recording sessions.
Analytics & Tracking
None. SimaRecord Pro does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporters, telemetry, or tracking of any kind. We do not know how many times you open the app, what you record, or how you use it.
Third-Party Services
SimaRecord Pro does not integrate with any third-party services. The app makes no network requests of any kind.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, share, or transmit any of your data to anyone. Period.
Children's Privacy
SimaRecord Pro does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version at simarecord.pro/privacy and update the effective date above.
